Fat Shot

« Back to Glossary Index

Fat shot:

Fat shot is one that sees a golf club penetrating the ground before making contact with the ball. In a good, solid shot, the club head makes contact with the ball before it proceeds to penetrating the ground.

Other names: chunk, heavy shot, chili dip.

The main consequence of this shot is to slow down the movement of the club head and, as a result, to noticeably reduce the distance travelled by the ball.
