Marker:

Marker in golf has three meanings. It is:

  1. A person who is appointed to record (mark down) a player’s score. It is the player’s responsibility to make sure the scores written down by the marker on the scorecard are correct before signing it. The marker is not a referee,
    or
  2. A unofficial name of a ball marker – a small flat object designed for marking the place on a putting green where a golf ball is lifted from.
    or
  3. An ink-filled pen used to make personal marks on a golf ball enabling it to be identified (distinguished from other players’ balls).
