Sudden Death

« Back to Glossary Index

Sudden death:

Sudden death is a method to break a tie and determine the winner of a tournament through a hole-by-hole playoff. Tied golfers play additional hole or holes. All players finishing the first playoff hole sharing the best score on that hole may continue play. Others are eliminated from the playoff. This process continues until there is just one golfer – the tournament winner remaining.
