Strike Three:
Strike Three is a variation of stroke play competition for individual players or teams. All competitors play the 18-hole round as usual. At the end of the round they mark the three holes, where they achieved the worst (highest) scores. These three holes are “erased” from their official score and are not included in the final score. The lowest total net or gross score from the remaining 15 holes wins. Full or partial (e.g. 3/4) handicaps may be applied to determine a net score.
Typically, there is also additional stipulation: the erased holes must include one par-3 hole, one par-4 hole and one par-5 hole. In other cases players can select their three worst scores regardless of the par of the holes.
Other names: Odd Fellows, Red Light, Throw Out 3, Best 15 Holes.
