Pace:
The term “pace” has two meanings in the game of golf:
- Pace of play is the overall speed or tempo at which a round of golf is played. It refers to how quickly players complete subsequent holes and the entire round. The R&A and USGA use the term in the context of prevending slow play.
- Pace of a putt (or shot) is the speed and strength with which the ball is struck. Used especially when describing how fast a putt rolls toward the hole. Pace and break are the two basic components of green-reading.
