Countback

Countback:

Countback (sometimes written as “Count-back”) is a procedure used to determine a winner in case of a tied golf competition. It involves comparing scores from the final stages of play. The method can vary according to the rules of a particular competition. Typically, in an 18-hole event, ties are separated by the best score over the last nine holes. If this does not determine the winner, then the Commeetee compares the total scores on last six holes, last three holes and the last hole in the next steps.

In longer (27 … 72-hole) competition, the scores on last 18 holes are compared first.
