Blind Bet:

Blind Bet is a format for competition between individual players or two-player teams. It is typically played in stroke play, but match play is also possible.

This game differs from a standard round only in that before the start of each hole, sides (players or teams) draw the set of tee markers from which they start that particular hole. The drawing method depends on the number of players and the number of tee colors on the course. This can be done using poker chips, playing cards, dice, a phone app, or any other method of fair draw.

The final score is calculated as in regular stroke play or match play, ignoring the draw results. Naturally, the round cannot be accepted for handicap purposes.

This format introduces the influence of luck but can be fun in club tournaments or a betting game.

An additional variation of this format could be the introduction of an additional chip or card into the draw, which, if drawn, allows the player to play a hole from a specific location: e.g. halfway down the hole or the front of the fairway.

Other names: Tee Box Lottery, Tee Box Draw, Random Tee Challenge.
