Handicap Index

In World Handicap System the Handicap Index is calculated as the average value of the lowest 8 of the most recent 20 Score Differentials in the player’s scoring record.

If a scoring record contains fewer than 20 scores, the calculation is different. The table below determines the number of Score Differentials to be averaged in the calculation and applied adjustment.

In both cases above the result of the calculation is rounded to the nearest tenth.

Handicap Index whs, calculation, average of the lowest 8 of the most recent 20 scores

The calculator works out the WHS Handicap Index based on the Score Differentials entered. If fewer than 20 Score Differentials are entered, the calculator calculates the Handicap Index using the table above.

NOTE:
Not all phones display the “minus” sign on the numeric keypad.
If this applies to your phone, negative values should be entered using the green minus button (spinner) on the left side of each field.
If the “minus” sign is displayed on a single button along with another sign, you must double-click that button before entering the negative value.
